If people knew how much more productive a fun office was, fun would suddenly be the most professional thing in the world. The desire to go to work can be elusive, and some companies spend millions trying to convince their employees that they're having soooo much fun by giving them free gifts like post it notes, pens, and Yeti cups. At PWR WMN we spend $0 (because we don’t have the money for it but trust me that if I did, we’d be at a resort on a “retreat”), but we still, and I don’t do this to brag, have the MOST FUN out of any office I’ve ever been in.
Katie gasping for air from laughing so hard is my barometer for how much work we’re going to get done that day. The more we laugh the more we work. At least that’s what I tell myself! But truly we do work harder and have better ideas and best of all, we want to come back the next day. As I am stepping into this leadership role I am becoming more and more excited about the kind of leader I could be and the kind of experience my team could have.
With so many horror stories about bad employers, it has become my obsession to be the kind of company 13 year old Kim thought she was going to work at, before she knew about bills and taxes and bureaucracy. 13 year old Kim wanted to work at a fun company. And that is at the core of PWR WMN. Fun. it’s in our blazer designs, in the fun little details that I know light up your day when you catch a glimpse of them in between meetings.
We deserve to have fun, I don't know why we ever stopped. Especially now that we have adult money! Well here’s your permission to bring fun back into your work day. Whether it be through your fun new PWR WMN blazer or by skipping in between meetings, you deserve it.
