The PWR of staying in your lane

The PWR of staying in your lane

The PWR of staying in your lane.

I’ve never been competitive. I’m the kid distracted by the butterfly while the rest are actually playing soccer. And that’s never changed. The truth is looking into other peoples lanes is kind of defeating. It’s so easy to start the rabbit hole of “they have this and I don’t” or “I should have this too”.

I’m not immune to that comparison itch and I’ve learned that the best way to get rid of it, is to ignore it. I’ve managed to keep my eyes in my own lane and ignore the lanes around me for a very long time. It wasn’t always easy, trust me doubt has a super sneaky way of getting in, it can look like jealousy, fear, anxiety. Once doubt settles in, so much more is suddenly in your view, things that you don’t need to worry about are suddenly all you can think about. The trick is to recognize it, look it in the eye. Call it by its name.

Staying in your lane is powerful. It’s joyful. It can fill you with gratitude and excitement for your very full life. It gives you the time and space you need to fully appreciate what you have and who you are. So what if it’s different from what everyone else is striving for or what they’re happy with?

Your lane is yours to define and yours to appreciate. That’s the best part. You get to set the parameters. You decide what’s important and you define your dreams. And the only person that can determine whether you’ve won or not, is yourself
